“Laborare est orare” – “to work is to pray”. There is no better place to display Christianity as practically as the workplace. The workplace should be where a Christian is found faithful and has a good testimony amongst believers as well as unbelievers. We study this today in 1 Timothy 6:1-2.

Our Call to Worship comes from Psalm 73 and we respond with a Prayer of Invocation and then, with I Sing The Mighty Power Of God, consider creation which reflects the glory of God.

Reading Colossians 3:22-4:6, we learn how a Christian employee and employer should conduct themselves and be mindful of the fact that both are under the direct authority and lordship of Christ.

We then stand and sing the hymn of the month, When All Thy Mercies. We then turn to 1 Peter 2:18-25 for our second Scripture reading on submitting and enduring hardship under a harsh employer.

In contrast, we then sing of the God of Grace Who restores rebels to Himself. We then enter into a time of prayer after which we take the offering while singing Blessed Jesus, At Thy Word in anticipation of God’s Word.

Arriving at the last chapter of 1 Timothy, we consider the first two verses of chapter six, titled: “The Christian At Work”. Then we echo the words of Revelation 4:11 as we sing Thou Art Worthy and end the service with the Benediction.

The idea of hell is frightening, but it is a biblical reality as we will learn from the Lord Jesus Himself in the gospel of Mark.

We start with the Call to Worship and then pray for grace as we seek to honor our Lord in corporate worship. With one voice, we sing Join All Glorious Names and then resume our reading through the Bible, as we learn how God instructs, protects, and leads His people out of Egypt. With God’s word fresh in our minds, we turn to Him in prayer making our requests known.

Then, opening our Bibles to Mark 9:38-43, we are taught the living realities of hell, with the sermon title: “A Fate Worse Than Disability”. In response, we sing in closing a hymn that reveals the true and legitimate reason for turning to Christ, not out of fear for punishment, but due to His love and grace shown to rebel sinners. The blessing from Ephesians 6, sends us on our way.

Luke 18:1-8 will teach us that persistent prayer is one of the primary means the Lord uses to sustain and strengthen our faith so that we may endure the evils days in which we find ourselves,

and by our endurance prove to be true disciples who inherit eternal life.

The musical Call to Worship begins the service as we stand, and sing Come Behold The Wondrous Mystery. We then pray for illumination and enablement and then turn to Psalm 59, for our first Scripture Reading, a prayer for deliverance from enemies. Our hymn of the month is When All Thy Mercies and after this we turn to Philippians 4, for a reading on how prayer combats anxiety.

Standing on the shoulders of those who came before us, we publicly confess our faith corporately with the Apostles’ Creed. Then we take the offering while singing O Word of God Incarnate.

Praying for the nations and for our own, we pray together and prepare our hearts for God’s Word. We then turn to Luke chapter eight as the Lord speaks to our hearts, with the sermon titled: “Enduring Evil Days: Persistent Prayer for Persistent Faith.” A time of reflection allows us to confess and recommit and then we stand and close with My Faith Looks Up To Thee and the Benediction

In chapter 5 of Nehemiah, we will see how forgiveness, extending mercy and personal sacrifice are essential to building unity in the work of the Lord.

We start with Psalm 138 as the Call to Worship, which relates directly to the sermon text. We then pray for illumination and then stand and sing The Church’s One Foundation.

Continuing our reading through the Bible, this time we read of the tenth plaque, the death of the first born. We turn our focus on prayer and then God’s word is opened and unleashed from Nehemiah 5.

We respond in song, with When I Survey The Wondrous Cross and are dismissed with the Benediction.

We continue our series in Nehemiah and in chapter four we see strong opposition, but God’s people pushing forward with prayer and force.

The Call to Worship comes from Psalm 116 and then the Prayer of Invocation followed by hymn 20, Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above.

No project can succeed, unless God is primarily involved and we read of this in Psalm 127. Then we rise and sing our hymn of the month, When All Thy Mercies after which we turn to Ephesians 6 and learn how a Christian slave and a Christian master should conduct themselves as servants of the Most High. Before we corporately unite in prayer, we sing Christian Hearts, In Love United also reminding us how God unified His people in the task of building Jerusalem’s wall.

Before we turn to the Word of God and learn from the book of Nehemiah, we take the offering singing Speak o Lord, while remaining seated. We close the service singing Great is Thy Faithfulness thereafter the Benediction.

What is the purpose of man? The answer: To glorify God and enjoy Him forever! In chapter two of Nehemiah, we will see how the zeal for the glory of God moved him to dependent action.

The Call to Worship is God’s direct invitation to His people from Psalm 115. We respond with a Prayer of Invocation and let the beautiful fragrance of true and spiritual worship fill the air as we sing Praise Ye The Lord.

Caleb, at the age of 85 years old, was moved by zeal to please the Lord, and looked to accomplish “impossible” and great things for God. We read of this in our first Scripture Reading from Joshua 14. We then sing the hymn of the month, When All Thy Mercies before we turn to Philippians for the second Scripture Reading on the kind of selflessness that should characterize us.

We then stand and sing O Splendour of God’s Glory Bright and then approach our Father’s glorious and merciful throne, in corporate prayer. As a token of our gratitude and out of a worshipping heart, we give an offering to the Lord, lovingly and willingly and sing Come Ye, Sinners, Poor and Needy prayerfully.

We then open the Scriptures to the book of Nehemiah, and learn that the good hand of God rests on those in faithful service of His good Name. In closing we sing In Christ Alone and are dismissed with the Benediction.
