Very seldom do we associate God’s grace with the fear of the Lord, but this is exactly what we encounter in our passage from Hebrews 12. We start with the Call to Worship from Psalm 103 and pray for illumination and blessing after we sing,  All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name..

Our Scripture reading in Hebrews reminds us again of the superiority of Christ and to reject the grace offered in Him, is to be condemned forever. Grace always precedes the fear of the Lord and therefore we sing, O for Grace to Love Him More.

Corporately, we pray for our church, our country as well as for the country of Mauritania, in North Africa. We pursue God and His grace in hearing His word as we continue our series of Revival/Renewal in Fearing God.

O For Grace to Love Him More, in which we express our desire for more grace so we could love God more and are dismissed with the benediction of 2 Peter 3:18

We continue our Revival/Renewal series on The Fear of the Lord and begin with Psalm 34 as our Call to Worship.

Fearing God will deliver us from all other fears and His saints would lack in nothing. Through God’s grace we can grow in the fear of the Lord .

We pray for Illumination and God’s blessing and respond in reverent worship to God’s majesty and power while singing, O Worship The King.

Our Scripture Reading from Isaiah reveals the divine ruling qualities of the Messiah of which the fear of God is one. He is the ultimate and good King.

The mysteries of the incarnation leave us in awe and silence and so we sing Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.

Corporately we pray for the nation of Turkmenistan our government and the church after we continue our pursuit of fearing God in His holy Scriptures.

We sing Come to the Waters, where we are reminded of the overflowing, inexhaustible mercy and goodness of God that He graciously offers.

We depart with the Benediction, from Psalm 115: 13-15 .

As we enter upon a new year, it should be the cry of our hearts that this will be our best year in the Lord yet. Indeed, the midst of the suffering of the Covid-19 epidemic is the best time to seek the Lord for revival and renewal, for God’s people are most refined through the fire and the furnace. We begin a mini-series in the topic of revival and renewal today.

Psalm 85 is our call to worship, where the psalmists voices our cry for revival and restoration. The foundation of revival is a renewed view of God, and so we exalt our triune God with the hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy”.

When God is at work, God’s people are loving, serving, and fear or reverence is upon every soul, while people are being saved. We read of this by considering Acts 2:37-47. We corporately call on our God in prayer, and pray for authorities, church edification and world missions.

We then turn to the Scriptures to pursue our own revival and renewal. We close with a hymn that focuses our love and devotion on God alone, My God I love Thee. We depart with the benediction of 1 Kings 8:57-58.

Call to Worship: Psalm 85

Prayer of Invocation

Hymn 3 Holy Holy Holy

Scripture Reading: Acts 2:37-47

Song 27 O Great God

Pastoral Prayer

Sermon: The Meaning of Revival

Song 26 My God I Love Thee

Benediction: 1 Kings 8:57-58

Christians are commanded to obey the government, since the government is an authority given by God to punish the wicked and reward the righteous. But when the government abuses its position of power and demands wickedness, those times requires Christians to obey God rather than men.

We start with praise as we respond to God’s Call to Worship and sing of our unshaken confidence in Christ during dark times in A Mighty Fortress is Our God after we have prayed for illumination and focus.

Our first Scripture Reading reveals how evil government commands must be dismissed for fear of God and then we sing Soldiers of Christ, Arise. Not only do we see civil disobedience in the Old Testament, it is also recorded in the New Testament as seen in our second Scripture Reading showing that obedience to God is ultimate.

Before praying together and receiving God’s word from Daniel 6, we are reminded of the Church in relation to our Lord Jesus Christ, in The Church’s One Foundation.

We close by prayerfully singing Be Thou My Vision.

Call to Worship Psalm 150:1-6
