Order of Service 24/02

If you have ever wondered why our church was named “New Covenant Baptist Church”, then our study in Hebrews 8 will provide many of the answers.

We are called into worship by the psalmist, who asks God to soften and incline his heart, as only the new covenant can do. Asking God for grace to worship, we then sing of our Messiah enthroned in heavenly splendour, singing ” Great High Priest of our profession, through the oil Thou ent’redst in; by Thy mighty intercession grace and mercy Thou dost win.”

We read of the promise of the coming new covenant in Ezekiel 11, and then sing of the marvels of God’s grace in “God of Grace”. Our Scripture in Mark reminds us that new covenant realities could never co-exist in the old wineskins of the old covenant. We then intercede for the church, for ministry, for rulers, for all men, and for special needs.

Our giving is followed by the exposition of Hebrews 8. We conclude with a song about Heaven and being with our heavenly Priest: “To Be With Christ”.
