As we complete our series in discernment, we turn our attention to the matter of trust: whom we will learn from and yield to when in pursuit of sound judgement. Psalm 118 reminds us that it is better to trust in the Lord, than in man.
Our first hymn celebrates the trustworthiness of Jesus. We then read in 1 Kings 12 of Rehoboam’s fatal error in whom he chose to trust. We sing again of our Lord’s deep and trustworthy love for us in “O, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus”.
We then read Paul’s description of the kind of ministry he had before the Corinthians, and why it was worthy of their trust. We turn to prayer and giving, and sing again the hymn “Blessed Jesus, At Thy Word”. We then meditate on God’s Word in this matter, and close with a hymn of aspiration, “May the Mind of Christ My Saviour”.
